“Fix it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.”

“Fix it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.”
I love this saying! It speaks to my soul!

That’s why today’s post is more of a discussion. Please leave your comments below.

So, we’ve lived in the same house for a number of years and have some older carpet. It’s like 10 years old. The problem is this:
I’ve read all sorts of gross information on old carpets and quite frankly some of them scare me! While I’m all about fixing it up and making things last, at what point is it time to replace the carpet in your home? Or is it time to google, “Carpet Cleaners Near Me”

Here are 4 things to consider as you debate whether or not to “make it do” or “clean it”:

  1. “The carpet is the biggest air filter in your home” – That means it can trap TONS of bacteria and germs
  2. I read that the average carpet harbors about 200,000 bacteria per square inch. That’s about 4,000 times as much as a toilet seat
  3. The average person sheds about 1.5 million skin cells every hour…that’s a lot of food for those germs in your carpet
  4. Microbiologists have identified air blown from a running vacuum as one of the 5 places in the home that has the highest number of germs.

Look, don’t get me wrong…I’m not trying to convince you to go out and upgrade your carpet right now. As a matter of fact I think a good carpet cleaner will do wonders in eliminating many of the germs. That’s just my 2 cents though.
